CamStudio user Jard Y Dooku (otherwise known as Jake) sent me an email the other day saying he’d fixed the bug with the lossless codec that made the black bar appear when the width wasn’t divisible by 4.
So all being well you shouldn’t see the black bar appear on the screen any more.
It’s available to download from here:
CamStudio 1.4 Codec <- Sourceforge link
CamStudio 1.4 Codec <- CamStudio.org mirror
(added after problems with SF, thanks to Jack for letting me know!)
There’s no EXE installer for it yet so You’ll need to extract the contents from the zipfile to a folder, right click the INF file and select Install from the context menu.
UPDATE: Thanks to CamStudio user, Scott White, there’s now an installer for CamStudio Codec v1.4.
Here’s the download link:
CamStudio 1.4 Codec - EXE Installer
More cool stuff coming soon.
Cheers

I happen to need this software today and there ’s an update.
Its nice to stumble upon a project that’s still active.

What has changed between this and CamStudio Lossless Codec 1.0 apart from the “black bar” bug fix? I can’t imagine it’s jumped 0.4 version numbers after one bug fix ;). Also, will it be long before an EXE installer appears?

@DragonQ
Apparently, in the source code for the codec, it was tagged as V1.3 and not V1.0, so after doing the fix, the codec has been assigned the correct version number.
Hope that answers your question.
@AJMB - you’re very welcome.

Eh? For some reason, the codec doesn’t work on me computer. It copies to the folders fine, and seems to install fine, but Camstudio doesn’t recognize it. I tried installing MSU to see if it was the same, but that worked.
Help? :]

I installed the new codec, but it crash if I try to compress with zip algorithm. It works fine with LZW.

I’ve tried it OK on WinVista. For some reason, I reinstall the WinXP and then I meet the same problem with jaywjayw.
Could you please help? Thanks!
