Hi All
This is a request for Vista users …
Ghosty121212 posted a comment on this page saying that you can get CamStudio working on Vista, doing the following:
Right click on the application > Select compatibility > then choose run compatibility with Windows XP SP2.
It runs just like XP now!
Can anyone confirm this?

Hi All
I know it’s been a while since I posted, and 2.5’s release has fallen behind again (yes, Dai I’m still on it) but I’ll have some good news for you in the next couple of days …
In the meantime, I thought I’d share the lovely letter I got from a charming individual called “Adolf” and my response to it …

Hi All
Apologies for being a little behind in getting CS 2.5 out the door - all my time’s been taken up with paid work and personal problems [sigh]. I won’t bore you with the latter, but it’s done and dusted now, I hope.
Anyway … whilst I get back to CamStudio I just found this article from LifeHack.org revealing the 20 free applications that will increase your productivity … and CamStudio is #9 … w00t!
I’ll have Demo Video #2 to you soon.
Thanks for being patient everyone.
UPDATE: I forgot to mention, I found this article originally on Digg.com here:

I’ve just had the final binaries and source code back from my programmer and so now … Version 2.5 is officially complete.
There is one small disappointment … the feature to Record Audio From Speakers won’t be included in 2.5 due to the fact that that particular piece of source code is missing from the original archive …
I did some digging and found some information on why …
The original webpage isn’t around anymore, but is still in Google’s cache for the page …
Here’s the full text …
CamStudio v2.0s
The source code for CamStudio v2.0s contains some slight difference from the binary version v2.0. To note, the code for the Record Audio From Speakers feature are absent from this release.
This incomplete release of code is due to the fact that the authors who contributed these portions are still uncomfortable sharing them with the public. We have, therefore, withhold these portions out of respect for these authors.
We are negotiating with the authors and we hope to resolve this issue soon.
Looks like it was never resolved - hence, no source code …
If the person(s) who coded this feature is/are reading this post, any chance of a copy of the code …?
Alternatively, if you know who wrote this code please point them to here … thanks!
On an upbeat note, I’ll upload a quick video to Google Video showing the new features in CamStudio 2.5 …
Keep ‘em peeled …

Some good news and some bad news …
First, the Bad News …
CamStudio 3.0 development has been put on hold …
There are a number of reasons for this but mainly because I don’t feel there’s a significant improvement over 2.0 for it to be a whole new version …
Now, the Good News …
Some of the new features from 3.0 have been transferred into V2 and so now I can announce that after nearly 4 years …
A new version of CamStudio is about to be released …
Say Hello to Version 2.5 …

I’ll post more soon …
Cheers

Hi guys
I’ve been contacted by a few people to bring my attention to this piece of software:
http://www.etrusoft.com/screen-recorder/screen-recorder-screenshot.htm
It does seem awfully familiar … does anyone know more about it?

It seems as though the tip I posted previously to try and fix the audio/video desychronization problem hasn’t worked, at least according to the people who have emailed me with their results, or lack of them …
CamStudio SuperStar ™ Ben Ward sent this workaround a while ago and it looks as though I never got around to posting it up here … could’ve sworn that I did, tho’ … oh well here it is anyway …
Download VirtualDub (Free)
Open up the AVI file in VirtualDub you recorded previously
Click “Video”, “Frame Rate…”, and under “Source rate adjustment” choose “Change so video and audio durations match”.
Save the AVI (using “Video” > “Direct stream copy” mode), open it in CamStudio Producer, and convert to SWF.
Hopefully, job done!
Let me know …

I was doing some research on this subject the other day as I keep getting emails from CS users saying that the audio keeps desynchronizing from the video …
It seems as though when you drop down the audio sample rate to 22,050Hz, it increases the chances of audio/video desynch …
I’m recording some test videos but I was wondering if anyone else has come across this before and is it true?

The guys over at Free Decent Downloads just awarded CamStudio a “Decent Download Award” in their Multimedia section …
They’ve got some great freeware listed on their site - in fact, I just found a DVD authoring program I’d never heard of to convert some AVI and FLV files into DVDs (it’s DVD Flick if you’re interested) … awesome!
A big thanks to Chung and the rest of the team for the award - it’s things like this that make it all worthwhile …
Cheers
