Video too big

hello

I use the latest version of CamStudio but I can not get a video with an acceptable weight. Indeed, I only happen to have videos of 200MB or more for just 1 minute.

I have try to use 3 codec :

Jawor's Xvid compressor/codec -

CamStudio Lossless Codec 1.5

I know that the top 2 are the best but they no work ...

Jawor's Xvid compressor/codec :
The video has a nice weight but unfortunately when I film something moving, once the video is recorded it is very jerky and it gives a headache. Lack of fluidity.

X.264vfw compressor/codec :
The beginning and end are not recorded.

CamStudio Lossless Codec 1.5
The video is much too large. I get about 2 Mo (16 Mb) for 1 minute. It is too much ...

Can you help me configure CamStudio and select the right codec?

    I just ran a test at 1024 x 768 (we really need a standard test area) with Cam set at 5/200 using X264/AVI for a few minutes, and found that the resulting video consumed 17,370 KB per minute. That was just a shot of my desktop, so there is no audio, which would of course add more. That allows about two hours of recording, but audio would cut into that.

    The only way to test whether you’re getting the codec you’ve selected is to run a short test video through an video editor or program like Gspot to see what’s been produced. The fact that the lossless seems to be the only one that is working normally suggests that the others are being discarded for a default codec due to a lack of a proper capture area consisting of two even number pixel dimensions.

    I have a bug ...

    If i use the codec X.264vfw and choose "Region" and not fixed region, CamStudio close alone, no movie is save ...

    Do a 1 minute test using fixed region of 640 x 480 and see what you come up with.

    My first question is, what media player have you tested with these? If you tried to use the built-in CamStudio player(s), they truly suck and have problems with both Xvid and X.264vfw. Windows Media Player and VLC seem to work well with those codecs.

    The bug is that cam studio close automaticaly if i try to save a movie with full screen with this both codec

    Ahhh - full screen! That tells me much I needed to know. Most recording software cannot capture full-screen playback (games or movies/media players). The reason for this is that most full-screen playback bypasses the video buffers in memory (on the mother board) writing directly to the video card. So, there is no content the recorder can access.

    So, you have to capture a window, I'm afraid. However, using Sizer you can make a window into a custom size in a set position, and then use CamStudio's "Fixed Region" setting to set a 1280x720 or 1920x1080 region to capture the movie in the correct aspect ratio.
