How to reduce screen recording AVI file size?
CamStudio for a short (~ 20 seconds) window recording session.
Much to my surprise the output AVI file size is about 800 MB.
Can this be true?
Is there a way to reduce the output file size a) during recording or b) after recording?

Definitely - use a compressor like Xvid or h.264. Never use a lossless codec unless you absolutely require archival-quality captures.
See this video for much info that will help you, as well as the other videos in my playlist.
