Changing Frames Per Second

edited August 2010 in Support
My web designed would like the avi file to be a 30 FPS. It is currently set to 200FPS. Under Video options the 200FPS is grayed out. How can i change this?
Thank you,

    hjermoian,

Uncheck the box that says, "Auto Adjust" and type in your own desired settings. Tell your web designer he will have to live with FPS numbers that divide evenly into 1000 -- this is for you, as the video producer, to keep your sound in sync. See the following video and accompanying article:

    http://screencasttutorial.org/18/best-settings-for-camstudio-to-sync-audio-and-video-28

(Send that link to the designer so they understand what you are up against)

With the Auto Adjust box checked, you can move the slider to select combos of Set Key Frames Every(SKFE)/Capture Frames Every(CFE)/Playback Rate(PBR or FPS), just follow the guidelines of the article.

The web doesn't care about playback rate settings (FPS), so select the speeds that work best for your computer's power and capabilities. I record fine videos with the settings of 100 SKFE/100 CFE/10 PBR (FPS) all the time. You're designer was probably reacting to some "tube" website's guidelines - those are not written in stone, however.

    Good choices also include:
    40 SKFE/25 CFE/40 PBR
    and
    30 SKFE/50 CFE/20 PBR

CFE * PBR should equal 1000.

This article from the FAQ is also very handy:
    http://camstudio.org/faq.htm#Optimize

And this FAQ article can help you determine your optimum Playback Rate/FPS setting that your computer is capable of handling easily:

If your designer absolutely must, without any doubt, have 30 FPS videos to work with for some reason, you can record using CamStudio with the best settings you can have for smoothness and video/audio sync, then convert the Framerate to 30 FPS using a program like VirtualDub or perhaps Any Video Converter.

    I hope that is helpful!

  • change fps, you can use video converter to transcode the video file, before converting, you can set up the FPS. so use a video converter will be a easy method.
