wont open after install

i just downloaded 2.6 and when i try and open it i get the following error

the application has failed to start because its side by side configuration is incorrct

Are you using Vista?

Either way, try starting the installer by right-clicking on the installer icon and select "Run as an Administrator" to ensure the program can install and register its required files and preferences files.

I am using windows 7, and yes I downloaded from sourceforge.. I will give it another try when i get home

If i cant get it to work how can i get an earlier version? What ever was the last version i was using worked for me..

Have you completely un-installed before trying the installation again? I have Windows 7 64-bit Professional, and all versions work on this computer without errors. You can get the original 2.0 version via the main http://camstudio.org page. Use Xvid - don't bother with CamStudio Lossless Codec for now.

I would suggest getting the 2008 C++ runtime files, but you should have that already (but perhaps not - you may have the 2010 version, while CamStudio purportedly requires the 2008 one).
