Screen recording canted/distorted by 45 deg

Much to my surprise all my screen recordings (under v2.6 and 64bit Win7) are distorted.
So the recorded window is canted by 45 deg.

Whats wrong?

This happens to certain dimensions of captures, especially those with odd-numbered widths.

You can sometimes fix this with the resize/cropping filter in Virtual Dub. See this video for instructions how.
