Highlighting Mouse Clicks

edited May 2010 in Support
Hello all!

I was using the search function, but even though I expected someone else asked before me, I couldn't find it yet, so please excuse if this might already have been discussed in another thread. (In that case, I would appreciate knowing where it is ;) )

Planning an experiment in Key Level Modelling ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keystroke-Level_Model ) I would need to be able to see when a user performs a mouse click. Is there any way just to highlight the mouse cursor in case a button is clicked (or, even better: highlight it differently whether the left or the right button is clicked) or to let it change the colour when the wheel is used? An option the video would contain different sounds for those actions would be ok, too.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Best regards,

If you download the either the 2.5beta from:

    http://camstudio.org/dev

or the 2.6beta from BleeBlap's website here:

    http://www.bleeblap.com/CamStudio/weeklybuilds.php

There should be what you need in:

Options > Cursor Options > Visual Click Feedback (no different noises for each left/right click though)

  • Hello Nick!

Thank you, that is really what I was looking for. Unfortunately the feature only seems to be working partly, since on some tests I performed the click highlighting is only visible in the video file occasionally. However, this might probably be due to low system performance on my side (maybe my computer is just not fast enough to capture every single frame, if click highlighting is limited to few frames) or due to the beta version.

However, I really appreciate your help and will most certainly turn this feature on when I use CamStudio!

    Thanks again,

    best regards!
