Gaming Playback Problems
I'm using CamStudio 2.0 to make videos from my Games. When I try to do so however, there are aways black "freezes" in gameplay for a few frames. Here are some examples:

http://i53.tinypic.com/k186yu.jpg (The flash, which lasts for 2 frames)
http://i53.tinypic.com/2yoz636.jpg (After the flash)
This happenes on all games I play and try to record. I think this "flashing" may have something to do with DirectX. I've tried experimenting with different options, such as changing the video encoder, modifying the quality ect. But so far nothing has worked.
Note that this does not happen during the actual recording itself, but in the final video playback.
Anyone got any ideas? I'm on XP sp3.

Also try versions 2.5 and 2.6. Those versions might be better. I tried version 2.5 to record a Pokemon game in an emulator called "DeSmuMe" and the output was acceptable.

Really need a solution, I've tried all the codecs, nothing has worked
I'm using the Microsoft Video 1 codec now (since all codecs produce the same flickering effect, this is the best one right now).
Actually, Microsoft Video 1 is the worst choice. What settings did you set the Xvid codec to in your trial? Did you disable as many "extra" display features as possible? Are you in 16-bit color? Did you try to disable DirectDraw from the "troubleshooting" TAB in the "Advanced Settings" area of your display settings (the "minus-3" setting of the slider)? [Get to the "Advanced Settings" from the button on the Display Settings tab.)
What player is this flickering happening on? VLC? Winamp?
The fact that it is only happening on playback might be a key, but I'd attack the recording end first.
Odd stuff - I hope we can solve it.
