Newbie needs help

edited June 2011 in Support
I've tried loading camstudio - and it didn't appear to work, so I uninstalled it (this happened several times). The problem was that after I had loaded it and tried to open the recorder it was blank (and certainly not looking like the pictures I had seen elsewhere in here or on the net). I am using windows vista and downloaded through Firefox.
Everywhere I have looked doesn't seem to have the answer. Unfortunately I need a real 'idiot's guide' - I can't work out were I have gone wrong. Either I am downloading incorrectly and missing something important - or I am not opening correctly.
Please help!

  • chrisrose,

Please definitely go to the http://screencasttutorial.org website and read the articles there and watch the videos in the video series at YouTube linked to there also.

AND read the excellent FAQ and help files.

Make certain you get your download from the official download location at sourceforge.

I recommend you get the most recent stable version for Vista. (Do NOT try to use "Record from Speakers" - use "Record from Microphone" in conjunction with Stereo Mix in your system audio recording settings.
