Corrupted file?
Just tried using CamStudio for the first time today. I had done short test recordings before both in full screen and small region that saved fine and playback perfectly.
I recorded a region today (Trying to record a Skype call) and the file saved as .avi as instructed, but does not play back correctly.
In Windows Media Player, it is a box the size of my recorded area but runs for a fraction of the time recorded while displaying no video and incredibly corrupted Audio.
Quicktime says it cannot open the file because "it is not a file that Quicktime understands."
Is there any way to attempt to salvage this file?

What Codec are you using, and with what settings in the Video Options window?

Also, I recommend checking "Use MCI to Record" in the Options for Microphone settings for making masters. The sync is much better, and sound is CD quality. Then convert using one of the video converters here to make smaller files:
