setting for sound from soundcard

I just started using the software and need to know what settings are necessary to record video from my screen. I would like to make small snippets of by band's video for posting on the internet. Since I don't have the memory capacity to use editting softwares I thought CamStudio might be a great and easy way to do this. Presently I have the performance on DVD.
As currently set, I am able to record the video portion but the audio is absent. Just silence. Is there a way to record directly from the soundcard? If anyone has done this and knows the proper settings please advise.
