Compression
What settings should be used to keep the file size to the bare minimal in AVI mode? Is there any external programs I can use to compress it even further? How are programs like VirualDub work, and should I use them to compress it even more (same goes for Windows Movie Maker for the last part)? Is there a point where compression can make the video unwatchable? Is there a "maximum" of programs I should use to compress before something bad happens to the video?
Basically, how can I end up with the minimal file size before Te video becomes unwatchable?
Thanks for your help!

http://camstudio.org/forum/discussion/658/req-recommended-settings-for-recording-for-90-min. -- where two of us went back and forth trying to squeeze the most time possible out of a recording with the most passable quality.
To save you on some reading time, this exploration led us to discovering Xvid as having the best results for the longest videos recorded. Getting 90-minutes out of 1280X720HD capture size seemed impossible to achieve until we discovered it.

http://jawormat.republika.pl/xvid.html for some custom installation packages that ROCK - you will need the 32-bit version for use with CamStudio, but install both so you have it available for Windows Media Player 64-bit, what the heck.
I have a long blog post coming up soon on Xvid at my http://screencasttutorial.org site, so watch there for that to appear. Sign up for the newsletter if you wish an email notification of when the post arrives.
Edit: The post mentioned is now available.
