Recover recording from temp files?

I started a recording but CamStudio did not terminate cleanly and I was unable to save the output. I found the ~temp.avi and ~temp001.wav, but neither are playable in current format. I presume CamStudio does some post-processing to merge these into the final output file. Is there any way to get CamStudio to do this, as I would really like to recover this important recording. Thanks!

See this video, but read the notes and comments at YouTube. Some have had good luck using MediaCoder to rescue files as well.

Thanks for the link and the video Terry. Even with "Ask for extended options after this dialog" ticked when opening ~temp.avi in VirtualDub, I still got "The file...is of unknown or unsupported file type", and MediaCoder gave me error 13 (http://blog.mediacoderhq.com/docs/error-codes/#013). So I guess although I though I'd rescued the .avi/.wav files they're not going to be recoverable :-(

Sorry to hear that. This is due to the fact that CamStudio used the older AVI-1 specification, which limited file sizes to 2 GB. The eventual updated version will use AVI-2, but we need programmers to help with that one.
