Pixelation - How to Get High Quality AVI's - 2.0

edited June 2011 in Support
Hi Folks, I am using 2.0, and have been for a couple months. Too lazy until now to ask for help with this. I do .avi clips exclusively, no flash, no gaming, etc... Can you give me the precise values to set per field so all this pixelation is resolved? I'd like the best quality possible (as everyone I'm sure :>) ) It is mainly the box-like or circular-maze type of distortion. Thanks for any help! Amy

  • morgandy,

I use Xvid for everything now. Please read the following post:

  • Okay Terry, I'll reset my info in a bit. I did select the xvide mpeg-4 option finally to reduce my files, but, now they are all digitized when I import to Vista Movie Maker, and Vegas Movie Studio, and those programs then always hang.

With Win 7, the individual clips show completely digitized, but I can create a final movie. I'm tracking all this down to resolve, as well, but perhaps you have the 'quick fix' for this issue as well? I primarily want to edit everything in Vegas so I can do the cropping I need to.

Thanks for the other info, and I'll report back how I do with it.

  • Terry/All,

I went to the link to download xvid HD 720, as recommended in that other link. I cannot find that codec. Should I download any others from that site? Are the the other compressors in the Camstudio default list any good/up to date, for my being able to get quality that xvid provides?

Am I able to edit in WMM or Vegas, or just Virtual Dub as mentioned? This is all very confusing to me, truthfully, though I am VERY versed in everything video, except the new need for video captures, settings and codecs, and I DO want to continue using Camstudio. The xvid links I find just route you to other, even more confusing links.

I would like to just pursue the xvid one recommended, rather than choosing any of the other ones provided, so that I don't have to mess around with all this further.

Any further advice? I would like to use WMM and Vegas, as again mentioned, but can I?

I'll have further questions, I'm sure.

    Thanks greatly,
    Amy
  • Amy,

Here is the direct link to Jawor's Xvid:
    http://jawormat.republika.pl/xvid.html

    Get either this:
    32-bit binaries (EXE installer)

OR this if you have a 64-bit system:
    32-bit & 64-bit binaries (EXE installer for 64-bit systems)

    CamStudio requires the 32-bit version.
